“Breakin’” Star, Adolfo “Shabba-Doo” Quiñones, 65, Dies At End Of Era
Mostly recognized for his starring role going by the alias, “Shabba-doo,” alongside Michael “Boogaloo Shrimp” Chambers, as the protagonist in the 80s Hip Hop style defining films, Breakin’ (aka Break Street ’84 outside NA) and Breakin’ 2, Adolfo Quiñones was among the most accomplished soul performers; at times incorporating dynamic or even acrobatic moves. Debuting his TV career as an afro-puffed Soul Train dance star, he was notable for being tall and employing an energetic form of locking, a kind of street dance that exploded in popularity during the 70s.
Reported by his family member, on December 30th, 2020, Quiñones died in his home at the age of 65. The cause of death is believed to be COVID-19 by many in the community, however this is a false rumour, since he had tested negative for the pandemic virus that first lost control in Communist China. The actual cause of death is unknown, though his closest family members have requested for privacy during this sensitive time.
Breakin’ centres around Shabba-Doo’s dance crew and their struggles to prove themselves against a better-established rival crew known in the movie for having the best dancers and moves.
